National Pole Vault Summit — Reno, Nevada

Who this meet is for

Almost everybody in the club. The Summit explicitly welcomes athletes of all ages and abilities. In 2026, the event separated beginners, multiple high-school ability bands, college, open, masters, and elite competition rather than forcing everyone into one giant field.

When and where

January 15–16, 2027. Educational sessions are based at the Grand Sierra Resort, with competition at the Reno Livestock Events Center.

What makes it special

This is not just a meet. It is effectively a pole-vault convention: coaching sessions, “Learn by Doing” activities, elite competition, enormous numbers of vaulters, pole-vault vendors, and multiple pits operating simultaneously. For a developing vaulter, simply seeing hundreds of other people who take the event seriously can be motivating.

How competitive was 2026?

World Athletics lists the 2026 open men’s winner at 4.98 m and the open women’s winner at 4.05 m. Those marks refer to the open sections, not the separate elite competition or the many age and ability flights.

Best fit

Excellent club-wide trip: beginners, high-school athletes, open athletes, masters, coaches, and parents can all get something meaningful out of the weekend.

Pole Vault in Paradise — Key West, Florida

Who this meet is for

Ages and abilities are unusually broad. The organizer says past competitors have ranged from age 9 to 75 and explicitly welcomes beginners through Olympians.

When and where

January 7–10, 2027 at Higgs Beach in Key West. The main competition is Saturday, January 9, with a clinic Friday, January 8.

What makes it special

This is the opposite of a sterile indoor meet: outdoor pole vaulting in Key West in January, age-group athletes competing around elite vaulters, a clinic, beach atmosphere, and a community-event feel. Athletes can watch elite flights up close and then vault on the same event setup.

How competitive was 2026?

The World Athletics result set shows Sondre Guttormsen winning a 2026 men’s elite final at 5.81 m, followed by Simen Guttormsen at 5.73 m and Hunter Garretson at 5.60 m. That illustrates how unusual the event is: recreational and age-group vaulters share a weekend with legitimate international-level athletes.

Best fit

A strong destination meet for athletes who care as much about the experience and memories as the mark. Particularly appealing for families, masters vaulters, and high-school athletes who want something different from a standard stadium meet.

Nike Indoor Nationals — New York, New York

Who this meet is for

Serious school-age athletes pursuing national-caliber competition. Nike Indoor Nationals uses qualifying standards and separates Championship and Emerging Elite competition rather than functioning as an all-comers meet.

When and where

March 11–14, 2027 at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City.

What makes it special

The Armory is one of the most recognizable indoor track venues in the United States. The meet is built as a true national championship experience: national fields, structured qualifying, major-event presentation, large crowds, and a venue where many elite and collegiate performances have taken place.

Registration and qualification watch

The 2027 meet dates are confirmed, but some detailed pages still display 2026 standards or schedule language. Until the 2027 pole-vault standards and entry deadlines are explicitly published, AZPVA should treat those items as Monitor rather than copying last year’s numbers.

This is the type of event where the calendar should include both the registration cutoff and a separate qualification-window and proof-of-mark checkpoint once those are published.

Best fit

High-school athletes already jumping at a national level, or within realistic reach of the published qualifying standard. For developing athletes who do not yet meet the standard, the Summit or an open street or beach vault is a better target.

New Balance Nationals Indoor — Boston, Massachusetts

Who this meet is for

National-level school-age athletes. Recent editions have included middle-school, freshman, and championship competition, with automatic and provisional qualification structures depending on event and division.

When and where

March 11–14, 2027 at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.

What makes it special

The facility itself is part of the attraction: a purpose-built indoor track venue with a polished championship environment. For athletes comparing indoor nationals, this gives AZPVA another national pathway during the same general weekend as Nike Indoors.

Registration and qualification watch

The 2027 dates are posted, but several detailed standards and registration pages remain labeled for 2026. Do not assume those standards carry forward. AZPVA should record the 2027 pole-vault standard, qualifying-mark window, evidence requirements, acceptance process, and registration cutoff as soon as the organizer publishes them.

Best fit

Athletes who have already earned a legitimate national-level qualifying mark. For an athlete near the bubble, compare the final 2027 Nike and New Balance standards rather than automatically choosing one.

Nike Outdoor Nationals — Eugene, Oregon

Who this meet is for

High-level school-age athletes, with Championship and Emerging Elite pathways governed by qualifying standards and entry procedures.

When and where

June 17–21, 2027 in Eugene, Oregon. The meet is held at Hayward Field, one of the most recognizable track-and-field venues in the country.

What makes it special

For a high-school vaulter, competing at Hayward Field is part of the appeal. It creates a championship trip around the venue itself, not simply another postseason meet. Nike’s event also operates alongside high-level national competition infrastructure, which makes the experience feel substantially larger than a normal invitational.

Registration and qualification watch

The official 2027 event pages are live, but detailed qualification and registration information should be re-verified as the season approaches. Registration uses Athletic.net and requires athletes and coaches to follow the meet’s qualifying and entry process.

AZPVA should track standards publication, opening of registration, the final entry deadline, proof-of-mark requirements, and any acceptance dates.

Best fit

Arizona high-school athletes who finish the school season with marks at or near national qualifying level and want a major postseason goal.

Grand Haven Beach Vault — Grand Haven, Michigan

Who this meet is for

One of the broadest specialty-meet formats. The 2026 schedule included youth, high-school age groups, high-school elite, college, masters, and elite competition.

When and where

2027 date not yet confirmed. The 2026 event was July 10–11 at Grand Haven State Park on Lake Michigan.

What makes it special

Athletes are pole vaulting at the beach. The runway and pits sit in the state-park beach environment with spectators, tents, and athletes gathered around the pits. The organizer markets it as a premier beach pole-vault competition and has hosted elite athletes including Katie Moon and KC Lightfoot.

2026 registration reference — do not treat as 2027. Early-bird registration was $93 through May 10, then $109 through July 4, and $150 July 5–11. The 2026 high-school elite standards were 12' for girls and 15' for boys. Those are useful planning benchmarks only. This calendar stays Monitor until 2027 information is published.

Competition level

The event publishes full annual results and meet records. Current listed records include 13'1" in girls 15–16 and 16'1" in boys 15–16, illustrating that the meet attracts strong athletes while still serving non-elite divisions.

Best fit

Possibly the archetypal fun destination meet for the club: ideal for athletes who want a memorable summer competition without needing a national-championship qualifying standard.

Dauphin Street Vault — Mobile, Alabama

Who this meet is for

Youth, masters, collegiate and open athletes, and elites all appear within the event ecosystem. The elite portion is a World Athletics Challenger-level competition, while the larger event is USATF sanctioned.

When and where

July 17, 2027, 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., in downtown Mobile, Alabama.

What makes it special

This is a genuine street vault. Historic Dauphin Street is converted into a competition venue, with spectators only feet from the runway and the city itself forming the backdrop. The organizer describes it as a pole-vault block party, which fits the event better than “track meet.”

Competition format

Flights run on a rolling schedule, with warm-up windows before each flight. The elite women and elite men are staged in the evening, turning the final portion of the day into a spectator event.

Registration watch

The 2027 date is confirmed, but current division-specific fees, entry deadlines, and non-elite registration details are not yet fully published. Those should be treated as Monitor items until the organizer publishes them.

Best fit

Athletes who enjoy crowd energy and unusual venues. This should be high on the AZPVA specialty-meet list because street vaults are comparatively rare and create an experience athletes cannot reproduce during a school season.
